How to Make Easy Birthday Cards with One Set!

Are you trying to learn how to make easy Birthday cards? if so you are going to love this post as I am sharing with you how to make easy birthday cards using one set and the same supplies.

So let’s get started!

How to Make Easy Birthday Cards

One of the things I like to do when coming up with my cards, is to figure out the paper I want to use. For thee Birthday cards I knew I wanted to use the Artistry Blooms Designer Series Paper (DSP) a.k.a. patterned paper for these cards.  Mainly because this paper pack is full of bright colors, which would help to make cheerful cards.

After all we all want to have happy and cheerful cards to be sent to our loved ones on their special day. right?

Once you have selected the paper, then it is time to select the stamp set to use!! So for these cards I decided to use the Timeless Tulips bundle as you can color them in any color!! These flowers are so easy to incorporate with any color combo, so definitely this is one of the sets I use the most, as it is easy to use.

how to make easy birthday cards with the same supplies

Once I have selected the paper and the stamp set, then its time to select the color combination out of the patterned paper, that way I can select the card stock to use.

The Color Combination

For this part, I suggest you go thru the paper pack, and then select the sheet that you liked the most or the one you want to play with. Doing this always helps you to focus on fewer colors and then it becomes easy to pick a color combination.

You can see below the color combination I decided to use for these cards.

The next step in this process if to select sketches and start playing with them. This is where the fun starts as you can then get your creative juices going!

Sketches & Other Details

One of the things I highly suggest when trying to make your cards is to look for simple sketches. This is because it becomes easier to incorporate the paper and the stamp set with the sketch.

Birthday Card #1

how to make easy birthday cards with the same supplies

This sketch is very similar to the one I showed a couple of months ago for some Masculine Thinking of You cards. As you can see in the card I showed you in that post (card #2 sketch # 13), is that even though I used about the same sketch the cards look completely different when you compared them together. And this is what I love the most of this process. Everyone will get a different card even if they use the same sketch. So your cards continue to be unique!

If you are wondering about the two tones tulips, I encourage you to watch the video tutorial below. This is an easy technique using sponges, that I know you will enjoy trying out!

Birthday Card #2

how to make easy birthday cards with the same supplies

For this card, you can see how simple the sketch is a well, however the card looks stunning and so cheerful!! I really think that using patterned paper in your cards makes a big difference. So if you are like me and have been hoarding paper forever, I challenge you to take the leap and cut some of it! Use it in your cards, and you will see the difference it makes in your cards.

Your cards will be easier to make, as the wow factor becomes from the patterned paper!! Seriously, trust me! give it a try and you will see.

Birthday Card #3

how to make easy birthday cards with the same supplies

And this final card is as easy as the rest of the cards I showed you today. You can see that same as the others the sketch is easy to follow.  One thing I did not mentioned before is that when you picked the paper and the stamp set, it is important you also pick a few embellishments in the color combination that you picked.

Now, let me share with you a little secret. If you don’t have embellishments in the colors you are using, then pick a few in neutral colors and then color them with alcohol markers. In the cards from this post, I colored the Metallic Edge Ribbon with Melon Mambo, and you can see how well the bows look in the cards.

Fun Fold Card Class featuring the Timeless Tulips bundle

If you liked these cards and want to make even more Birthday Cards, you can check out the Timeless Tulips Card Class Tutorial in my PDF Store.

Cute Handmade Birthday Card for a Friend

Color Combo Blog Hop banner

Want to learn how to make a cute handmade Birthday card for a friend? then keep reading my friend as today I am sharing with you a super cute Handmade Birthday card that you can customize with tons of little critters like the one I used in mine.

And as you can see I am participating in the monthly colour combo blog hop to challenge myself how to use their color combination into a handmade card!

So Let’s get started!!

How to make a cute Handmade Birthday Card for a Friend

So as I mentioned above, today I am participating into this blog hop to challenge myself to use the color combination of the month which you can see below

And honestly this is how I started brainstorming how to make my card or what to use for this Birthday handmade card, which I am not going to lie, sometimes I found this a bit more challenging than starting with the products in mind..

You see, I almost always try to pick the products and then from those products I pick the colors.. So you can see that going the opposite way can be challenging for my mind LOL. However I love it, because it forces me to look at things differently and I feel like I actually stretch my mind and my creativity.. And at the end of the day this always helps you to grow new skills!

So always try something different that challenges you, as this always helps you grow in other ways.. and I mean this not only for your card making but for everything in life! 😉

Anyway, back to my card.. I first thought about using flowers (I think I always want to go that route!). However, I remembered I got this cute new set from the August-December catalog (a.k.a. Winter or Holiday Catalog) that can make cute little critters. And this is when the light bulb went on! Why not using the soft suede for a little critter and use the other colors as highlights. Why not?

After I had picked up the little critter, I looked for paper and embellishments in the other colors from this color combo. I realized I had a spool of ribbon in Mint Macaroon. This got me thinking about using this color as the highlight and the Rich Razzleberry as the color for my card base.

So here is the card!! tah-dah!! what do you think???

The Sketch & Other Details

sketches to play

Once I knew which products I was going to use for this card, I then looked for a sketch.

If you have been following me for a while, you know how much I love using a sketch. I strongly believe that this makes things so easy when you are coming up with ideas for your cards.

One think I always suggest is to start with an easy and simple sketch, that way you don’t get overwhelmed by thinking how to substitute the elements on the sketch.

As far as the card itself, I made the little beaver using the Menagerie Mix-up stamp set, and if you look in to the details you will see that his cheeks are colored as well as his scarf.

Close up on this cute little critter

I used Flirty Flamingo – dark shade from the Stampin’ Blends  to color his cheek. And the Dark shade of the Mint Macaroon to color his scarf.  I think this added a little bit more of personality to the beaver. Don’t you think?

One tip to assemble the beaver was to stamp, color and cut out all the pieces using the dies, and then glue all the pieces using the Glue Dots.

When you are ready to add the beaver to the card, you can use dimensionals to add more dimension to it!!

The best think of the Menagerie Mix up bundle is that you can create so many critters that you can customize the card to many options.

And I am also thinking that these little critters can go perfect for like Baby Shower cards, or kids cards! so the possibilities are endless for sure!!

If you are enjoying colors combination challenges and want another color combo to play, you can see the Color Combination from July 2020 here as well as the card that I made using it!

Easy Handmade Birthday Card

Blog hop banner - JOY of stamps August 2020On today’s post I will be sharing an easy Handmade Birthday card that you can make in no time.  And as you are seeing on the banner this post is part of the Joy of Stamps – Fonts-amental Blog hop.

On this blog hop we will be sharing projects with sentiments or fonts that we love! I know you will love seeing all the participating blogs as you will get lots of inspiration for your card making projects.

How to make an Easy Handmade Birthday Card

For today’s card I wanted to go with an easy Birthday handmade card mainly because we usually need Birthday cards all the time, after all we all have birthdays right?

Anyway As you can see below my card is monochromatic, which made everything even simpler! and it also makes it easy to customize it with different colors..

For instance you can make this card using the favorite color of the recipient of your card, or perhaps you want to use the birthstone color to go with the card! or you could simple do the cards in the color of card stock you have the most in your stash! so you can see where the options are limitless. 😉

The sketch and other details

sketches to playYou can see on the left the sketch that I used as inspiration. This is honestly one of the things that I do the most and I strongly believe makes my card making super easy and very enjoyable.

I can come up with so many ideas for cards just by using simple sketches. So if you ever feel like you struggle with inspiration, give it a try. You will see how this helps you with ideas!

For the bottom side of the card  I used a wide brush tip water painter and just painted the lines across that section of the paper. You can see these are not perfect and not straight, so do not over think it. I think this is actually one of the things that add a little flair to the card.  Please note that this is regular whisper white card stock, not watercolor paper, in case you were wondering.

Once the strips dried, I added the lines with the alcohol marker. Again this was free hand, so they are are not straight. Please do not over think it, the faster you do them the better they look.. I promise you. 😉

If you want to see another example of making this stripy background technique, check this other card! This is another easy card, and you can see how mixing and matching with other colors make the stripes look even more interesting..

For the top of the card I added a stamped roses with Navy Blue and then added Wink of Stella to the flowers, this adds a shimmery look that we all love!! I added also the sentiment on the same color.

Finally I added rhinestones and the ribbon/bow that I had previously colored with the alcohol markers.. I love this trick as I can get embellishments in any color that I need. And if you use Stampin’ Up! blends (alcohol markers) then you will have all elements to color coordinate beautifully, as all their products color coordinate, making it even easier when it comes to color combinations, as you will have everything from ink, paper, embellishments in the same tones. Give it a try and let me know how you like it..

Kylie Team Blog Hop

Are you looking for easy Birthday handmade cards to make? if so, keep reading as you will find on this post three easy Birthday card ideas that you I know you will love to make! Plus I know these will cheer up your friends on their special day!

I am also participating today in a blog hop with an amazing group of demonstrators around the world, so make sure you visit all the participating blogs as I know you will get tons of inspiration for your card making projects! I promise you!

Birthday Handmade Cards to Make

As I was mentioning above, I wanna share with you three easy Birthday Handmade Card ideas that you can make in no time. All of these are featuring the So Much Happy bundle from Stampin’ Up! which not only has a great stamp set, but it also has a fun die set with borders that will help you make awesome cards when you paired them together!

When I saw this bundle in the catalog I got very excited with it as it has a cloud border die that you can use with so many stamps, like the Hippo Happiness Bundle for example. Also this bundle has images for balloons and stars and it has a die for a mini banner string as well as the “happy” die that can be use for so many occasions!

Therefore for the cards that I am showcasing today, I want to make sure you see what I was seeing with the cloud edge border as well as the happy die and the banner string! I had so much fun designing these cards and I know you will love making them.  So lets get into the details of these cards!!

Easy Birthday Handmade Cards to make!

The Color Combination

For these cards I wanted to have a very cheerful feeling, so I decided to use mainly colors from the bright family.. below you can see the palette of colors that I picked

I also incorporated Basic Black to make these colors pop up even more!

The Sketches and Other Details

Birthday Card # 1

sketches to play       Easy Birthday Handmade Cards to make!

For this first card, I wanted to use the cloud edge die to make a sky background. However, I wanted to just have a partial background, so i added sticky notes to limit the borders where the sky would go. I then created a template with the die set and use it as a stencil to create the sponged background. I have included the video tutorial on this post so you can watch how this background was made step by step.

The letters were also die cut out of the rainbow glitter paper, and the brand new foam adhesive sheets!! Oh My!! I was so pleased with how well these are cut with the dies. I did run it twice just to make sure these were cut perfectly.

Make sure you watch the video tutorial below if you want to see how this card was put together.

Birthday Card # 2

sketches to play       Easy Birthday Handmade Cards to make!

This second cards is very simple. I cut out the letters on water color paper to be able to watercolor them. I could have also die cut them in regular Whisper White and then color them using the blends. In fact this is what I did for the little banners.

Doing these things helped me to have several colors in the die cuts, following the colors from the rainbow glimmer paper.

Birhtday Card # 3

sketches to play

And for this final card I wanted to get a cloudy background, which I used the same technique from the first cards. However, this time it was for the full background.

I then added a die cut with Vellum and Whisper White of the clouds edge die. And though you might not see it in the card, It really looks really well in person. Adding both of these layers added a great dimension to the card.

The Video Tutorial

As mentioned before, here is the video tutorial where I share how to make these cards with you. You will see how easy these cards are to make!

Easy Birthday Handmade cards

If you are looking for easy Birthday handmade cards to make, then make sure you check this post, as I will be sharing with you how to make three Birthday cards with a very modern look.  so lets get started!

Easy Birthday Handmade Cards to make!

For these cards I decided to use the Broadway Birthday Bundle set from Stampin’ Up! This stamp set is not a new set and sadly it is retiring at the end of May 😕

So if you don’t have this set, make sure you add it to your collection (below you will find a link to my store where you can get it). However, you can easily substitute this set with another set that has bold letters for the sentiment or a large die cut. So no worries if you read this post and this bundle is no longer available.

Easy Birthday Handmade cards

For these cards I actually decided to use patterned paper, contrary to my typical process, I decided to show case mainly the stamp set with the coordinating dies.  so lets talk about the details of these cards.

The Color Combination

The color combination that I chose for these cards were based on bright colors and so I used:

  • Coastal Cabana
  • Flirty Flamingo
  • Pineapple Punch
  • Basic Black
  • Whisper White
  • Gold

When working with bright colors, I try to focus on mainly one color, which in this case was the Coastal Cabana, and then add highlight colors, so in this case these were Flirty Flamingo and Pineapple Punch.

The Sketches and other details

Birthday Card #1

sketches to play      Birthday handmade cards for a friend

For this first card I used one of the sentiments on the stamp set and stamp it tone on tone on the card base. This made the effect of patterned paper if you will.  and as you can see I used both of the highlight colors on the card. I use the Pineapple Punch for the little sentiment so it didn’t compete too much with the Flirty Flamingo.

As far as the sentiment, I used a gold foil paper and basic black to due cut the word “wish”, and then glue them together but I moved the gold die cut towards left, that way you can get the effect of the shadow on your word without too much fuss.

Birthday Card #2

sketches to play      Birthday handmade cards for a friend

For this second card, I used watercolor paper to make a watercolor smudge background. you can watch the video tutorial below if you want to see how I added those speckles on the background.

Same as with the last card, I did the same technique on the word die cuts, though this time I used gold glimmer paper.

Birthday Card #3

sketches to play      Birthday handmade cards for a friend

Finally for the last card, I wanted a very clean look, and in this case I only used one highlight color.  I love how the balloon on this card pop up a lot.

As far as the sentiment, I used a cool technique for embossing only half of a word, so you can see how I got the Wish stamped word in both Coastal Cabana and Gold! so make sure you check out the video tutorial to learn this technique.

The Video Tutorial

And finally as mentioned before, here is the video tutorial for these cards. you can see how each of these cards were made! I know you will see how easy these are to make!

The Supply List

And if you are interested on the supplies, below you can see the complete list! remember this bundle is retiring by the end of May 2020!! so hurry up and get this set right away! You can click on the images below to my online store!  I truly appreciate your support! 😍

Mother’s Day Handmade card ideas to make

Are you looking for easy Mother’s Day handmade card ideas to make quickly? if so you will love reading this post, as I will show you how to make three cards using the Timeless Tulips Bundle perfect for Mother’s Day!!!

Three Easy Mother’s Day Handmade Card Ideas to Make!

Below you will see the cards that I am featuring today. These cards uses the Timeless Tulips as well as one of my favorite designer series paper (DSP) a.k.a. patterned paper Magnolia Lane.

What I love about these cards is that you can easily make them for any occasion, you just need to change the sentiment and you are set! is that not cool?  I think these cards would be great for a thinking of you, get well or birthday cards, because who would like to get tulips in the mail? 🌷🌷🌷

how to make mother's days handmade cards

The Color Combo

As usual, I came up with the color combo of these handmade cards just by following the colors on the designer series paper. I cannot emphasize how easy this is when you use Stampin’ Up! as all their products color coordinate beautifully, therefore it is easy to put color combos and get all items on that color combination. In this case you can see how well the ribbon coordinates with the cards.

  • Petal Pink
  • Mossy Meadow
  • Whisper White

Also please note that while not in the color combo, for inks I added Terracotta Tile and Old Olive. The color combo drove my decision on cardstock and embellishments as well as the selection of the design from the patterned paper pack.

The Sketches and other details

Below you will see the specific details for each of these cards as well as the sketches, so that you can recreate these cards with any other suite you might have. Give it a try and you will see how easy is to make cards with anything you have on hand.  However if you want to recreate these cards exactly the same, make sure you see the supply list where I share with you which items I use. NOTEthe Magnolia Lane DSP is on the retired list so hurry up to get it as it might be gone pretty soon!

Mother’s Day Handmade Card #1

sketches to play     how to make mother's days handmade cards

For this first card the sketch is simple, which I truly believe helps you to customize to any suite or paper pack you might have. And if you are wondering how did I made the tulip look with two tones, you need watch the video tutorial where I go step by step. As a quick reference, I stamp the tulip in a light color and then sponge with a darker color the bottom of the tulip. In this case I use the Petal Pink for the light color and Terracotta Tile for the darker color.  TIP –  you need to have a light hand when adding the color with the sponge.

Though the color combo calls for Mossy Meadow, I used Old Olive for the stamping of the leaves for the tulip. I did this to get a better color for the tulip, as the Mossy Meadow look really dark when put together.

Mother’s Day Handmade Card #2

sketches to play     how to make mother's days handmade cards

The second card’s sketch is also simple, however, notice that I added and extra layer to the pieces, so it added a lot of pop to the designer series paper. I will be honest, I almost never do this, as I feel like it is too much paper on one single card, but it looks great as you can see. I might give it a try more frequently. 😉

Mother’s Day Handmade Card #3

sketches to play     how to make mother's days handmade cards

This final card has as well a very simple sketch! I love having simple sketches because they help you when putting cards with other suites. Same as the previous one I matted the patterned paper with cardstock. Also for this particular card, I have embossed the Whisper White cardstock to have some texture on the card, rather than a just plain white layer.  You will see this better on the video tutorial as the picture is not really showing the texture.

If you like these cards, make sure you watch the video tutorial below.

Magnolia Lane Card Class

By the way, If you like the Magnolia Lane designer series paper, then make sure you check out this card class I have available. You can get the make or take packet or the PDF Tutorial on my PDF Store or by clicking HERE.

Please note that this class is awesome as it includes SIX different cards using mainly Designer Series Paper, which means you can remake these cards with any designer series paper you want! so make sure you check the video here were you can see all the projects  😉

Fun Fold Card Class featuring the Timeless Tulips bundle

And if you liked this stamp set, and you love making fun folds, then make sure you check out this class.

This class features the Timeless Tulips bundle!  and it includes 6 unique fun folds that are easy to make and follow. Once you learn how easy these are, you will be making tons of these with any other set you have.

You’ll get three more color combinations for your tulips, to get that beautiful look that make them look as if the tulips were real..  I know you will love all the cards  included in this class!   You can check this class in my PDF Store here

The Video Tutorial
